Archetypal Woman Series: Miranda Thomas

The old one-dimensional female archetypes -- the soccer mom, the starving artist, the successful-but-lonely boss lady -- are dead. Women are creating new, multidimensional archetypes and defying stereotypes.

The most fulfilled women are constantly creating in multiple areas of their lives, whereas burnout often happens when we feel like the routine of our day job is all we have time for. The Archetypal Woman Series is a tribute to inspiring women who rearrange time and space to explore and excel in a range of activities. May their stories encourage you to expand into your own uniqueness for the benefit of you and everyone in your orbit.

Can you tell us a little bit about the work you do?

My work has varied throughout my life, but now I focus my creative energy on creating a community centered around women empowerment for conscious conversation. What that looks like varies day by day, but the goal is to elevate conversation by discussing touchy, taboo topics and honoring the women who freely express themselves and their thoughts. The goal of my work is to educate, spread love and positivity by encouraging women to embrace their individual gifts by learning about themselves and others, free of judgement.

We are in a time of rapid change! What encouraging trends are you seeing in your industry?

Women day by day are becoming more liberated, balanced, inclusive. Shakti Speaks was birthed for many reasons but mostly because I hated feeling like an outsider for being myself. I was too much of this or too little of that and I never really found MY place. So I decided to create a community of women who are spiritual goddesses, intelligent, strong, confident, and worldly. These are the only type of women who do not exclude others, but embrace and encourage others' growth. Belittling will not be tolerated.

What are some practical tools you use to help manage your time and energy?

Laying in bed and pizza. Ha! Seriously, some days that really is the recharge my body is asking for and I honor that. Some days it is yoga to meditation to an intense journaling and writing session. Some days it is staring at a wall and dissociating. I am a Pisces so I definitely have vivid, imaginative day dreams that inspire and recharge me.

This is the Archetypal Woman Series, where we shine a spotlight on women who are bringing forth new, multidimensional ways of living and working. How would you describe the archetype you’re bringing onto the planet?

My archetype is full of polarities. I identify with water because of my fluidity. I'm willing to learn, be wrong, and adapt. I'm also very firm with my belief in my power and self. I won't compromise my worth. The things that make me most fun are my ability to laugh at life and see it as a single fleeting moment which gives depth to my conversation. My ability to not take it too seriously, but still give a shit is really important to my diverse way of thinking.

Can you tell us about a woman who has had a significant impact on the trajectory of your career? What lessons did she impart?

My mother for birthing me and not continuing to raise me with a predominantly Catholic upbringing. That was a huge shift and she was the first. I believe that saved me from feeling guilt about my sexuality and allowed me freedom to explore myself without fear or God or the Devil, but rather knowing the frequency and vibration I decide to operate at will inevitably attract the life I live.

What's next for you? Do you have any projects in the pipeline you'd like us to know about? How can we support you and your work?

For the next several weeks the community will learn about many different partnerships in the works. I am partnering with experts in varying fields to discuss topics that will be juicy, fun, and educational. You can support by simply telling a friend, following the page, reposting content and contributing to the conversation. There is enough for everyone, so you can support by telling me about your favorite entrepreneur as well.

What message do you want to share with the world?

Your unique, authentic self is so important. You are the gift. The more you try to mold, the less individualistic you become and it's unhelpful for the growth of the collective consciousness. So, stay weird, be introspective, ask yourself why and then why again, and keep thinking big.
